I was recently given a set of Jamie Oliver DVD's as a housewarming gift. It took me a while to get around to them but I finally watched the Ministry of Food the other day and was really surprised that someone could feed their toddler doner kebabs every night. It was also frustrating to see that almost an entire town of people were at risk of heart disease, diabetes and obesity because they didn't know how to cook. Whatever happened to learning how to cook from your parents?! One of the tasks that Jamie set for himself and the group of people participating in the show was to pass on a recipe. It's so magical how a simple task like this can really change a community. One personality flaw that I admit to without any hint of shame is that my eyes are bigger than my tummy (I think I am safe admitting it here). I almost always order more food than I can stomach and therefore doggy-bags are a common occurrence when dining out. I cannot be trusted without a measuring spoon as eye-balling ingredients will always lead to too much salt, spice and all things nice. I am also guilty of going to the supermarket for milk and bread and coming back with an entire trolley full of goodies. I almost eat an entire meal whilst "taste-testing" whatever is on the stove-top and always get caught red-handed because I am constantly hovering over the pot with a spoon. Hello Everyone. I've been missing-in-action for a couple of months now. Those that follow me on twitter will know that Pizzaboy and I have finally bought a home. It was the right size, in the right suburb, in the right location and at the right price. This is the first time both of us have moved away from home and so far it's been fun. We are both so happy and we can't help but be playful whilst unpacking. I am also delighted that the kitchen is flooded with sunlight from dawn to dusk.
